Producing two
Hip-Hop dance DVD's, young people in Haringey learnt
practical media skills as well as gained an insight as to what really goes
on behind the scenes. Of
the youths that participated in the project, one is going
on to college to study media business administration, with the
other two staying on for a further 6 weeks with HKH TV
before they begin their own independent company and
continuing to work freelance for HKH TV. The next phase of
the course begins in September so if you are a young person
between the ages of 17-25 that lives in the Haringey area
and are interested in video production, please contact us on 0208

the series.
We are holding off producing series two of Health and
Fitness TV until further notice. The good news is

September
2008 - Haringey Health Initiative |
|
|
|
|

 |
The initiative is to run
two pre funded back to back 6-week health and fitness
based video production courses for Haringey youth
beginning in July. Both projects will entail
producing dance aerobics fitness DVDs. We will use
popular/urban artists, hip-hop, and dance youth culture
to communicate, relate to and inspire hard to reach
young people in Haringey. Our courses are primarily
targeted at the 16-25 not in education, work or training
youth in the Haringey community. Young people in
Haringey will benefit in two ways. Firstly, the
medium of dance will increase their fitness in a fun and
motivating way that they will be happier to engage with.
Along with this, they learn about leading a healthy lifestyle, hopefully
instilling longer lasting fitness habits. Secondly, they
will learn some practical media skills as well as
gaining an insight of what really goes
on behind the scenes. |
|
|
We will be producing two
Hip-Hop dance DVD's. Young people in Haringey will will be
trained in media and video production skills before learning
how to choreograph dance
moves, film, edit and produce the DVD's. |
|
The whole process will also
improve their soft skills. By working with a range of
people in different settings, and seeing a project through
from start to finish, the students will improve their
confidence, team work and communication skills, as well as
gain a sense of achievement which they can be proud of, and
put on their CVs. |
